From Prairie Trails to Pacific Waves: Why I’m Starting Something New

I have been chasing freedom for as long as I can remember.

Wanting more than what my hometown on the Canadian Prairies had to offer.

I dreamed of the ocean and the whole world that was out there.

Then I turned 18 and went out and made it happen.

I have snowboarded at midnight, trekked the peaks around New Zealand’s Milford sound, jumped out of an airplane and off a bridge AND bought the t-shirt.

I worked as a housekeeper, bought a surfboard and lived in a hostel by the beach with a bunch of backpackers.

And then I came home and got married. And had kids. And started a business.

And life changed…

Recently I hurt my knee, needed surgery and took a week off of my business. I sat around and read, soaked up the sun and built an epic world in Minecraft.

Sitting out in the warm sunshine, making friendship bracelets and chatting with my kids, I felt so free and happy and like this is how life is meant to be.

This is the feeling I want to build my life around.

Not, the hustle, screens and the disconnect — but the sense of freedom, wonder, and homecoming. Like I was finally hearing myself again, underneath the noise.

And that’s when Prairie to Pacific was born. Quietly at first. A whisper. A tug. A question:

What if I actually built something for myself this time?

The Path That Led Here

I’m Colleen — a prairie girl with a deep love for the ocean, mountains, and meaningful creative work.

For years, I’ve supported other women behind the scenes — managing launches, creating systems, helping businesses grow from the inside out. And I’ve loved that work.

But somewhere along the way, I tucked my own voice off to the side.
- I stopped having adventures and saying yes to life.
- I let the dreamer in me get quiet.
- I got busy. And like so many women, I told myself I’d get to my thing someday.

This is me saying: Someday is now.

Welcome to Prairie to Pacific 🌾🌊

This is more than a blog.
It’s a dream brand in the making.
A space to blend adventure, soul, creativity, and wild possibility.

Think of it like a cozy campfire under the stars — where we talk about:

  • Travel & nature adventures (solo, family, and soul-led)

  • Journaling, rituals & manifesting (but grounded, not fluffy)

  • Photography & visual storytelling

  • Digital products + AI tools for soulful creators

  • Building a brand that feels like you

  • And maybe… one day… gathering in person on a beach or mountaintop

Why I’m Doing This

Because I believe in following the pull, even if it doesn’t make perfect sense yet.

Because I want to create something beautiful that’s mine — and help other women do the same.

Because the world doesn’t need more hustle.
It needs more softness. More soul. More women trusting their voice again.

And because I think we’re allowed to start over, as many times as it takes.

What’s Coming Soon

In the next few weeks, you’ll see:

  • My first digital product (a free journaling prompt pack called Write Your Wild)

  • Photo prints from my travels across BC and the Prairies

  • Gentle AI tools & tips for creatives (especially if tech overwhelms you)

  • Blog posts to spark your next adventure — inner or outer

This brand will grow slow and intentional. Like driftwood finding its way to shore.

If anything I’ve shared here sparks something in you — I’d love to stay connected.
